COACHING

COACHING

The Blues Squad receive weekly coaching during the first two terms of the academic year. This is conducted by Sam Truman, a fully qualified PGA professional with experience at the highest levels of the game. Notably, Truman has worked as a county academy coach for Surrey Golf, heading the girls elite and development squads, as well as the U12 boys teams. As such, he has an intimate understanding of team-based golf, and has been a great fit for Oxford University Golf Club.

Truman has access to Trackman and Sam Putt Lab, both of which allow the team to obtain objective feedback on how their games are progressing.

Every Wednesday afternoon, the team makes the short trip to the Oxford Golf Centre, a well equipped driving range located near to the centre of Oxford. This is intended to provide an opportunity for focused practice, with each player able to spend time on the aspects of their game in need of improvement.

Towards the end of the Hillary term, the Blues Squad will typically spend some additional time at our home club, Huntercombe. Here we work on the scoring skills central to matchplay, a great aid in the build up to the University Match.
